Funded by the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office and partner organizations, the Chevening Scholarship Programme awards scholarships to individuals with demonstrable leadership potential and strong academic backgrounds. The scholarship offers full financial support to study for any eligible master’s degree at any UK university whilst also gaining access to a wide range of exclusive academic, professional, and cultural experiences.

Since the program was created in 1983, over 50,000 outstanding professionals have had the opportunity to develop in the UK through Chevening. There are more than 1,500 scholarships on offer globally for the 2020/2021 academic year, demonstrating the UK’s ongoing commitment towards developing the leaders of tomorrow.

Chevening Scholarship Programme

Course level: Master’s

Fields of study: Any course that is 1) full-time; 2) starts in the autumn term; and, 3) taught masters

Institution and country: Any institute of higher education in the UK

Sponsor: UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office

Scholarship inclusions: 

  • Full tuition fees
  • Monthly allowance
  • Roundtrip flights to the UK
  • An arrival allowance
  • A homeward departure allowance
  • The cost of one visa application
  • A travel grant to attend Chevening events in the UK

  • Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended.
  • Have completed all components of an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate program at a UK university by the time you submit your application. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honors degree in the UK.
  • Have at least two years of work experience.
  • Have applied to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices.
  • Meet the Chevening English language requirement.
